Altogether we have lost sixteen subscribers, among whom we must mention with afiectionate regret Mr. F. H. Dickinson, a member of the Council and an enthusiastic supporter of the objects of the Society, and Mr. Bennett, our late Secretary, to whose generous efforts much of the success of the Society has hitherto been due. Both gave willine of their time and experience, searching out documents that called for publication, and guiding the Council in the choice of its subjects. In the place of these sixteen we have this year twenty new subscribers, so that on the whole we are in a progressive state. Mr. Maxwell Lyte, c.b., Deputy Keeper of the Rolls, has joined the Council, and I have undertaken the work of the Secretary. In view of our future plans and the extra expense that is caused by the necessary payment of transcribers, a special efi'ort must be made by all subscribers to gain fresh members and create a larger interest in the objects of the Society.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
