She was a lady of the Old school, very exact in her ideas of court esy and propriety, - likewise, an earnest and devout Christian. She was very ill at the time of my birth, but when not expected to live, prayed earnestly that she might be spared to see Pemberton's child live and do well, as I was extremely small and delicate. Contrary to all expectations, She lived to see me a very well-grown, active child of two or three years. She is buried in the old cemetery in New London. She had a good many beautiful things, in linen, silk dresses, Old-fashioned brocade and Silver, some specimens of the latter still remain in the family.
