In compiling that List, more especially in those portions dealing with the second half of the 17th century, the Editor had valuable help from Dr. J. Maitland Thomson, Advocate, late Curator of the Historical Department of h.m. Register House, which he welcomes this Opportunity to thankfully acknowledge.The exceptionally laborious task of preparing the Index to all three volumes, which forms the greater part of the present volume, has been entrusted to Miss Jean E. Kennedy. The admirable manner in which she did similar work for the volume, issued by the Club, relating to the Scots Colleges, and for Mr. P. J. Anderson's recent Quatercentenary Studies, may be taken as a guarantee for the completeness, accuracy and reliability of her contribution to the present work.To Messrs.
