Lucienne Marode Skopek has a PhD in sociolinguistics and lives between Washington and Geneva. She is the author of various books. In 1988, she published with Rafel Carreras "S'envoler sans s'affoler" (Ed. Secavia) as part of a fear of flying program she created in collaboration with Swissair. In 2010 she publishes "Errances : une vie en transit" (Ed. Epsylon) (Errances : a life in transit) in which the author talks about her war-related turbulent path and her present life in the US, with enduring ties to Europe. In this volume, Lucienne Skopek pays tribute to a friend, a comrade in arms met during her military service in Israel. The themes touched upon are friendship, the Holocaust, homosexuality, the passing of time, and are dealt with thoughtfulness and sensitivity about episodes in Pnina's life. Despite the tragic aspect of historic events that form the background of the book, the author's attitude is never accusing, moralizing or sentimental. Her measured approach actually brings into focus the moving as well as the revolting moments which are portrayed in the book.
