Excerpt from Philosophisches Jahrbuch, 1911, Vol. 24: Auf Veranlassung und mit Unterstützung der Görres-GesellschaftNoch bevor Arnauld Paris verliess, hatte Malebranche bei einer Zusammenkunft mit ihm den Plan entwickelt, die theo logischen Lehren uber Gnade, Prädestination und über den Ursprung des Hebels rationalistisch zu begründen. Beim Abschied gab Malebranche das Versprechen, das vollendete Werk, betitelt: "traite' de la nature et de la gräce, Arnauld zur genauen Prüfung zu unterbreiten. Schon 1680 war Malebranche mit der Ab fassung des genannten Werkes zu Ende und sandte es an seinen Freund mit der Bitte, seine Ansicht über die Abhandlung mitzuteilen. Durch andere dringende Arbeiten verhindert, verschob Arnauld vor der Hand die kritische Prüfung.Vgl.
