Das Pfarrerbuch der Kirchenprovinz Sachsen enthält die Biogramme der mehr als 30.000 Pfarrer, die auf dem Gebiet der preußischen Provinz Sachsen (in ihren Grenzen von 1815) seit der Reformation bis 1982 tätig waren. In zehn Bänden sollen nun in alphabetischer Folge die Biogramme veröffentlicht werden. Die entsprechenden Daten sind seit 1943 vom Pfarrerverein sorgfältig gesammelt und nun veröffentlicht worden. Ein abschließender Band beinhaltet, nach Gemeinden geordnet, die Namenslisten (Series pastorum) der dort tätigen Pfarrer seit der Reformation. About the Series: The »Pfarrerbuch der Kirchenprovinz Sachsen [Book of Pastors of the Ecclesiastical Province Saxony]« edited by the Verein für Pfarrerinnen und Pfarrer of the Evangelical Church of the Ecclesiastical Province Saxony e.V., comprised of 9 volumes, contains in alphabetical order the profiles of more than 30, 000 pastors, who have worked on the territory of the former Prussian province Saxony (within the boundaries of 1815) from the Reformation until 1982. The data has been diligently collected since 1943 by the Pfarrerverein and has now been published. A tenth volume assigns the names of the pastors to their specific, individual churches, beginning from the Reformation. Besides the names, the series provides, if the information could be retrieved, date and place of birth, date and place of death, times and places of education, date and place of ordination, exams, places and time of service (often also concerning their work as teachers before their first parish), date and place of marriage, as well as all accessible information about their wives and parents. Important publications and additional occupations are also mentioned. Names, places and dates of birth and death, and occupations of the pastors' parents and children, as well as the places where they lived, are added. It is not unusual to discover dynasties of pastors, which turn the volumes into an indispensable tool for historians and genealogists.
