Excerpt from Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Art, Tenth Annual Report of the Trustees, and a List of Members: For the Fiscal Year Ending December 31, 1885The growth of the School materially increased the cost of its maintenance, but, chie¿y owing to the indefatigable efforts of the Associate Committee of Women and the success of their entertain ments, the proceeds of which were given exclusively to the School, the excess of expenditures over receipts was only two hundred and twenty-one dollars and twenty-six cents.
