I felt I remembered every word-every detail because the summer of '53 had burned itself into my memory never to be erased. The incidents that seem particularly amusing now, were extremely painful at the time. Some were intensely embarrassing. I told them to no one. I am no longer that shy farm girl from Central Oregon.
