Patronage Politics in Egypt
BücherAngebote / Angebote:
This book examines the networks of political patronage that operate within the urban setting of contemporary Egypt. In particular it looks at the activities of the NDP (ruling party from 1978-2011) and opposition Muslim Brotherhood and how the local links into macro-level politics and, in doing so, it portrays the socioeconomic and political settings that set the stage for the January 25 revolution. The book also traces the impact of the neoliberal policies on the lives of the populace of urban Cairo, highlighting the role of the lesser notables, those intermediaries that flourish on the lower levels of the Egyptian polity.
