Jesus often taught in parables: earthly stories with spiritual truth. In Luke 8, he says to a large crowd "Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear, " but even his own disciples had to seek further understanding. To this he replied, "The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you..."
