Nothing has been invented to give piquancy to the tale. I have exaggerated nothing of the inci dents, and it was impossible to exaggerate any thing of the sentiment. I have submitted all to the inspection of another, and it receives the sanction of her recollection as to those incidents which came within her observation. My short quotations of oral observations, and my extracts, may be relied upon as literally correct.
