They were so named on the state map of 1860, but I regret to learn that the later maps have again changed the former name back to Pelican. I am sorry they do not know why the lake was called after this lady, Ellenora, or they would have the grace to restore her name to the lake and so help to keep her in memory for all coming time.Sir Francis Sykes' party, when they started on their hunt, took George W.
