Excerpt from On the Electrolytic Treatment of Tumours: And Other Surgical Diseases Being a Paper Read Before the Medical Society of London, on January 28, 1867I now proceed to say a few words about the battery required for the electrolytic treatment, and for which the following qualities appear to be necessary: It should furnish a large quantity of electricity, and possess consider able electrolytic properties, it should give a constant and reliable current it should be easy of management, so as to avoid loss of time and trouble in charging and discharging it, it should not easily get out of order, and it should be of such a bulk as to render it possible to carry it easily about. The battery, which is represented on the following page, appears to me to unite all these conditions, it has been constructed for me by Messrs.
