Following the defeat of Napoleon, many Frenchmen, who fled to the Americas, return to their homeland. Several families from Bordeaux, Nantes and Toulouse remained in Guatemala where they settled near Tegucigalpa. The French migrants rent land from Amalia, the widow of a Spanish knight.
