A mere forty minutes after the second airliner crashed into the World Trade Center, the scene shifted to Washington DC where a third airliner, American Airlines Flight 77, plunged into the Pentagon, the hallmark of American military might. Meanwhile, a fourth airliner, United Airlines Flight 93, was being hijacked and thought to be headed for the Whitehouse, when a group of courageous passengers overpowered the hijackers and sent the airliner crashing into a field in western Pennsylvania.1 The death toll from these horrific terrorist attacks would surpass 3, 000.
