Murdering Indians
BücherAngebote / Angebote:
In February 1897 a family of six was brutally murdered in rural North Dakota. Several Dakota Indians from the nearby reservation were arrested, and one was tried, found guilty, and sentenced to be hanged. A week later a mob of thirty men broke into the jail, dragged three of the five accused Indians out, and hanged them. These events were fodder for hundreds of newspaper articles, letters, and legal documents. These documents, together with the author's extensive commentary, tell a disturbing tale of racism and revenge in the pioneer West.
