Excerpt from Miscellanies of Rev. Thomas E. Peck, D. D., LL. D, Vol. 1 of 3: Professor of Theology in the Union Theological Seminary in Virginia, Containing His More Popular Writings and LecturesOur public does not need to be advised that these remains are very valuable. It was a well-known characteristic of Dr. Peck that he gave himself to the study of questions of moment. He cared little for the mint, anise and cumin in the gardens of history, theology and philosophy, in which he wrought. The small questions of a day were never allowed to fill the field of his vision. They were never anything but small questions in his eyes. Hence, what he wrote is, for the most part, of perennial importance. The subjects which engaged his thought and pen were subjects of general and abiding interest. We venture the assertion, that the reader will, in running his eye over the table of contents of the present volume, be struck with the timeliness of most of the articles. The reason is evident: they will always be timely.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
