Excerpt from Minutes of the Fourteenth Annual Session of the Selma Baptist Association 1896 The Fourteenth Annual gathering of the Selma Association assembled Aug. 11th, 1896, in the Baptist church of Benton, Lowndes county, Alabama, at10:30 a.m. In the absence of the Moderator, J. E. Barnes called the brethren to order, and H. S. D. Mallory was elected temporary Chairman, J. E. Barnes, temporary Secretary. After devotional exercises, permanent officers were elected as follows: H. S. D. Mallory, Moderator, J. F. Savell, Secretary. D. B. Edwards and H. A.
