It is when the event is of common occurrence that the prompt effusion of friendship appears - but when so overwhelming a storm of trouble bursts upon the happiness of a family - and when grief for the dead, and strong anxiety for the liv ing, are both agitating the mind - the feelings are too powerful to be indulged, and we are more desirous to repress their ardour than exhibit their impressions.
