Memorial Tributes

Excerpt from Memorial Tributes: Brief Sketch of His Life, With Addresses Francis B. Knowles of Worcester passed to his higher home, May 15, 1890, in Washington, D. C., while on his way from his winter residence in Winter Park, Fla. His earnest interest in Christian work and his charitable nature have given him a national reputation. His constant motto, from the time of his early conversion, was: "The world shall be better for my having passed through it." His life has made the motto true. The entire career of Mr. Knowles emphasizes the truth of the proverb that the child is the father of the man. This memorial, which so largely deals with the closing scenes of his busy life, would not be complete without some brief reference to his earlier days. Like nearly all the men who have made Worcester, his boyhood's home was in the country. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
