Labeled the "Songbird Supreme" by the Guinness World Records, Mariah is known for her 5-octave vocal range, melismatic singing style, and signature use of the whistle register. She became famous during 1990 after signing to Columbia Records then issuing her eponymous debut album, which topped the U.S Billboard 200 for 11 successive weeks.
