While these expositions of existing systems are of value they are not of much particular value to the seeker after information on other lines than those dealt with in the illustration, for they deal with abstract cases instead of principles. A man who is seeking to establish a cost system for an iron working establishment will naturally be interested in reading the cost system used by some other similar institution, but if on the contrary he is seeking for a cost system in a wood working shop, the information given regarding the iron working establishment will be of neither interest nor value to him. In this work the subject will be dealt with along general lines and not from the standpoint of any particular industry.
