The Rev'd Dr Graham Monteith argues strongly that it is wrong to assume that we have autonomy to decide when we should end our own lives. Our lives belong to God not to ourselves. He does not rehearse the usual arguments against euthanasia but argues that the miracles in the Bible where someone is brought back to life indicate how much God values life and gives us all an opportunity to live it to the full in his service. Such service does not include choosing to die whenever life becomes too difficult or painful. Relationships of love can overcome these hurdles.
