Excerpt from Kunze's Seminarium, Vol. 27: And The Society For The Propagation Of Christianity And Useful Knowledge Among The Germans in AmericaThe minute-book in question. Was found in Zion's church, Frank lin Street, below Vine, Philadelphia, Pa. In the fall of 1915 exten sive alterations were being made in the lower part of the church, in the course of which the book again came to light. As is shown by a letter attached to the front cover, it had been sent to Dr. W. Mann, Jan. I 3, 1886, by the heirs of Dr. Albert Smith, of New York City, whose wife was a granddaughter of Dr. Kunze. Dr. Mann was at that time Archivist of the Ministerium of Pennsylvania. He evi dently put the book aside with the intention of using it later in an notating the Halle reports. Unfo'rtunately he never reached that part of the fifteenth report which gives the first account of the Semi narium. He died June 20, 1892, without having been able to com plete the great work he had begun. The minute-book was forgotten until nearly thirty years later it was recovered as described above. It is now in the achives of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Mt. Airy, Philadelphia, Pa.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
