Excerpt from Jules Bué's Class-Book of Comparative Idioms: German Part
The most obvious change, perhaps, from the usual system consists in the novel shape in which the material has been arranged and printed, as the English and French portions of the work appear in totally distinct volumes, instead of in parallel columns as heretofore.
The arrangement has been thus carried out with a view to further the increased practical utility of the work in schools, and shows at once that the aim of the publication has been to improve on the ordinary dialogue-book, in which the pupil is liable to take it for granted that a passing glance has effectually taught him the difference or affinity between the English and French phrases.
