Excerpt from Joloano MoroThis small book is largely a translation into Joloano Moro of The Philippine Chart Primer and The First Year Book (teachers' Edition) published, by the World Book Company, New York and Manila, to whom the translators are indebted for authority to publish.A vocabulary of common words has been added as well as some frequently used sentences.The work involved in making the translation was done in a class taught by Omar Bagis who also went over the manuscript. This class met at Jolo, Sulu, P. I., during part of the year 1914.It should be explained that Joloano Moro can hardly be classified as a fixed language. That is to say the same idea is often expressed in different ways by the same speaker and considerable differences are noted between mountain and coast people and again within each of these class separation of a few miles often makes a difference in language. All that can be said, therefore, is that the translations given would be well understood by anyone speaking Joloano Moro.
