Excerpt from Information Concerning the Potash IndustryThe brine that permeates the whole deposit is now considered its principal valuable constituent. It is a saturated solution of the crystallized salts, but it contains more potash and borax. It is to a certain extent a natural bittern or mother liquor although the term bittern is not strictly applicable to a solution that contains no salts of magnesia. It is undoubtedly the liquor that remained after the crystal salts were formed by the natural concentration of the waters from the ancient lake that occupied this basin.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
