Excerpt from Inauguration of David Prescott Barrows as President of the University: Wednesday, March 17 to Tuesday, March 23, 1920Addressed to the Board of Regents his resignation of the presidency of the University, and on July 15 he formally retired from the office which he had held for approximately twenty years, to become President Emer itus. Dr. David Prescott Barrows was appointed Presi dent Of the University, by unanimous vote of the Board Of Regents, on December 2, 1919, and entered immediately into the active performance of the duties that were laid upon him. His formal inauguration as President took place at the fifty-second annual celebration Of Charter Day, Tuesday, March 23, 1920.
