With the first edition of In Defense of Ska selling over 6, 000 print copies through just PTO and website sales, Aaron Carnes has proved that ska fans are the most supportive and loyal fans of all genres. With glowing reviews from Rolling Stone (print and online), NPR, Stereogum, GQ, AV Club, and more, this already successful cult book made a significant splash into the mainstream. The beloved book received one repeat complaint however: it needed WAY MORE SKA. Aaron was inspired by fan response to the book and the podcast by the same name to add more material in this second expanded edition. Aaron launched his podcast in order to promote the book and it has taken on a life of its own, featuring interviews with big pop culture personalities such as Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy, Margaret Cho, and Eve 6 frontman Max Collins (who's forthcoming memoir for CLASH is in the works and who is a big fan of both CLASH and Aaron's and would be down to do events to help promote this second edition. Quoted as saying: "Don't go to college. Read Darryl and In Defense of Ska istead."). The first edition proved to have a loyal fanbase and showed all of us that ska fans are well-read music lovers. With an expanded edition with actual distribution, it's exciting to see how far ska's greatest defender can go.
