Excerpt from In Defense of Medical BotanyDr. Starr whose office is at No. 709 G Street, northwest, is a native of Virginia, born in Prince William County in 1813, moving to Ohio in 1817. He resided there until the commencement of the Mexican War, in which he took an active part. In 1849 he made his way to California, where he orga nized a company to fight Indians in the Digger Indian outbreak, and held them in check until Gen eral Smith came to his relief.
