I AM SHATTERED

From the time I was able to recognize my difference I was already making my own path. My Grandfather was a storyteller and I suppose that's where I first learned to weave a story and entertain. In school I could be a class clown, but I was a serious learner about all thing's literature and history. Undergraduate degrees in industrial organizational psychology and Business management paced the way for a career in nonprofit management. I could always take an issue and bring the cause to light, finding people that wanted to support these causes and make a difference in our community.
Early in my career I think I tried to bend people or ideas into my own comfort and tended to not provide the same measure of autonomy to others as I craved myself. At some point I became acutely aware that different characters were far more interesting and fun and thus began my fascination with strange and unusual personalities. This collection of 200 poems on the human condition is really about unusual people that I have met over a 30 year plus career as a Licensed clinical social worker and licensed addiction therapist. In addition to disorders found in the DSM V TR the reader will also find film personalities and unusual characters that offer a glimpse into the mind of a practicing Clinical social worker through the use of poetry. I think for me I'd rather be different than genius, relevance is a good thing but interesting to me is where it is at. Oh, how I long to tell my story in the manner in which I do it.
I'm not sure it's with a great plan, but usually the process involves music and rhythm, and something is eventually found. Poems that I construct are given a title of distinction and then hopefully told in an unusual manner. Routine just does not resonate with me. I hope you enjoy this book on these most unusual people that I have met in a career of helping those less fortunate.
