Bonnie Lee Ann Harrison chose her penname L. A. Green to combine her name with the book's cocreator, Gleycia Green. Canadian-born Harrison has a BA Honours in performance theatre from the University of Winnipeg and an MFA in theatre performance from the University of Florida. After graduate school, she worked professionally as an actor and was Director of Education at the Hippodrome State Theatre in Gainesville, Florida. She currently teaches in Jacksonville, Florida, and lives with her partner, her dogs, Pookie and Nan, and the dogs' nemesis, Kit.
