And' it was in this county, formerly bedewed with the tears of Saints, con secrated by their labors, and still containing precious monuments Of their religion, that I was taught to believe in John Wesley! Very early I was instructed in his catechism, and jealously confined to Methodistic in¿uences. My parents, both ardent Methodists, piously believed, that they were instilling into my mind the pure truths Of Christianity and to their zealous endeavors I am indebt ed for a belief in Christianity that I have never been able to sti¿e. They did for me what they believed the best if I have partly disappointed their hopes, I can not help it. Before God I believe I am right I am certain Of it.
