Homeless Footsteps

Angebote / Angebote:

Growing up without biological parents is life-altering and even worse when those same parents are drug users. It is not long before you are figuring out the world on your own making many avoidable mistakes, learning lessons along the way. Homeless Footsteps addresses the emotional behavior and social problems of children born to drug-addicted parents. The main character Kina is one of nine siblings and the third born. Within the first six years of her life, she experiences neglect, drug parties, overdoses, physical abuse, and more. Kina and her siblings were eventually rescued by the Division of Youth and Family Services also known as DYFS. They were dispersed amongst family members with Kina going to live with Auntie Buela, who came with her own set of family and relationship problems that ultimately shaped Kina's life views. She learned independence, how to stand on her own, and eventually smile. It was the reality and shame of having a homeless, garbage picking babbling schizophrenic mother, that drove Kina into a downward spiral at a young age. But with perseverance and the grace of God, she learns to prevail overcome and eventually take care of her siblings and save her mother from her homeless existence making her the hero of her own story. Drug abuse led homelessness is an epidemic that needs to be aggressively addressed world-wide.
