Thus, in his Travels in the Caucasus there is a graphic account of the Kalmuks running through nine chapters, which is literally tranmd from Pallas's little known work, entitled Samlungen Historischer Nachrichten neber die Mongolischen Volkerschaften without acknowledgment. Elsewhere he has similarly laid under contribution the translations from the Chinese of the Russian archimandrite, Hyacinthe Biturinski.
