Excerpt from Historical Sketch of First Parish: Haverhill, MassBut in October of 1645, the council again met at the same place and John Ward was ordained pastor of the church in Haverhill on the north side of the Merrimac, and Mr. John Woodbridge was ordained pastor of the church at Andover on the south side of the same. It causes a smile as we read that the council was held at Rowley be cause neither Haverhill nor Andover were able to enter tain the people who were like to gather.The date of this council was October 24, 1645, probably old style, making the true date November 5.
