Russell E. Heacock became a justice in September, 1831, Isaac Harmon was elected in June, 1832, and in July, 1834, a large majority of the voters gave the honor of this office to John Dean Caton. Until after the organization of 'cook county the only recorded business before the justices 'was marriages.
