The Duchess was buried in the church, her funeral being attended by the Dukes of Ormond and Hamilton, the Earls of Essex, Grant ham, and Lifi'ord, and Lord Berkeley, of Stratton.111 She was daughter of William Viscount Grandison, and wife of Roger Palmer, Earl of Castlemain, a well-known beauty in the Court of Charles II., and one of his most distinguished favourites. In the year 1670 he created her Duchess of Cleveland, with limitation to her son, Charles Fitzroy, and his heirs male the title became extinct in 1773.
