God's Balm: For Those Who Weep

The first book in my series of devotionals entitled " God's Eyes, A Voice for those who have none" had many poems based on animals, from an abandoned dog to my take on the purpose behind a Mockingbird's song. This second book, in my series has to do with the balm God has available for those children of His who maybe are experiencing some of life's unfortunate events. Some sage once penned these words. "Life is what happens to you when you're making other plans." Take my brother-in-law- for instance, for whom this book is dedicated. He was sailing along, enjoying his life blissfully, without a care in the world. He was happily married with a beautiful wife, three grown daughters who presented him with 6 grand children who thought he was the bees knees. There he was gaily enjoying each day, except for a strange new, pain that had appeared over a period of weeks. He saw the doctor and was told that he had amyloidosis and had no more than six months more to live. He did, however, manage to fight on for almost another four years before succumbing to the disease. Within these pages this and tales of other of my friend's struggles with other physical problems are laid out in a prayerful way to comfort them and possibly to give some comfort to those suffering with similar ailments. This devotional also contains a few pleasant tales of God's humanness in His enjoyment in creation, even in His laughter and joy. It really is a potpourri of poems dealing with all sorts of fun and gambits as I tinker with how our Creator enjoys His creations and soothes them with a balm, if and when they ache. There's a poem about a young man named Buck who was a hero in Vietnam. There is also another hero- my personal friend- finding a way to smile and enjoy his life, bedridden now, having suffered with MS for over 20 years. You, perhaps, will smile and even laugh over some of these poems. Yet, perhaps you may be prompted to step back and take a deeper look at things and even weep. This is a Biblical look at life, its joys and its sorrows. I hope that you will enjoy the ride and either slather on His balm, if need be, or join Him in His laughter
