In writing this book I have been prompted by the same motives which impel me in the preaching of the gospel. And I have looked to the same sources for help. The Spirit of God, the Word of God, and the people of God have been steadily before me from beginning to end. I hope these pages may be blessed in their perusal as they have been in their preparation.Please accept, then, this little book, "in His Name."It comes without much apology, though not without much defect. It has a mission, I have no doubt, and I trust it may fulfil it. Every page was written in the atmosphere of prayer, and every copy, I humbly trust, will go out as a benediction to some soul.
