Reformation as women's cause - prints and correspondences by more than 30 women from the dawn of Reformation are presented here extensively, completely bibliographical recorded (prints, prefaces, title xylographs) and analyzed for their theological content. Biographical information of the female authors permits a placing within the wider context. In addition to famous women like Argula of Grumbach, Katharina Zell or Elisabeth Cruciger less famous ones are presented like Anna Tucher and Ursula Tobler as well as the elsewhere rarely included female Anabaptists and female followers of Kaspar Schwenckfeld. Moreover texts by women, who were engaged in the Peasants' War, and some anonymously published pamphlets assigned to women are taken into account. In sum a wide range of theological knowledge and commitment of women is given, who took part in the Reformation dispute "free and self-confident" beside Martin Luther- a manual to the female side of the dawn of Reformation, which sets new standards.
