Pure water is furnished in abundance, from an artesian well four hundred and fifty feet deep.The library is a fire-proof building directly north of the main edifice, and connected with it, as shown in the frontispiece. Within, it is well lighted and handsomely finished. The bookcases and other furniture are of carved black walnut. The alcoves are so arranged as to form cozy nooks for readers, to Whom the library is Open thirteen or fourteen hours each day. The present number of volumes is between eleven and twelve thousand, and, as these have been carefully selected with reference to the courses of study, a wide range of authorities can be consulted on whatever subject.
