As a result of very recent discoveries, the life and work of Hermann Beckh (1875-1937) is only now beginning to be reassessed. In the midst of such progress this celebratory Festschrift (2016) can point to: the centenary of the publication of his first book of global importance, Buddha's Life and Teaching, and its first translation into English the imminent publication of the newly translated manuscript The Mystery of Musical Creativity: Man and Music, Beckh's draft for a ground-breaking study, composed during the last months of his life the first appearance in English of Gundhild Kacer-Bock's extensive Hermann Beckh: Life and Work In addition to hitherto unpublished texts there are appreciations by his colleagues, research papers by international scholars, and artists and translators explore the treasury of ancient languages, the mysteries of music, and Beckh's life itself. A tribute to Gundhild Kacer-Bock concludes with Rosemaria Bock's own memories - this section ends with the special fairy-tale the Professor wrote for Gundhild and her siblings, with specially commissioned illustrations. In 1922 Hermann Beckh helped found the Movement for Religious Renewal, The Christian Community, devoting the remaining 15 years of his life to inspire a generation at the Priests Seminary in Stuttgart. The latest research begins to uncover not only the impeccable scholarship of the Professor, but also his unique gifts for bringing first-hand spiritual insights into sharp focus for the 21st century. As publication of the Complete Works continues, this Festschrift opens many avenues for further research on this brilliant pioneer who gave his all and blazed all too briefly as a Sirius among the stars of the founding priests.
