It], complained in 1586 that the Records were very slenderly and disorderly kept, and mentions among the laudable doings of Sir Henry Sidney, the Lord Deputy, that the Records, which were evil kept, not fenced or defended from rain and foul weather, but lay all in a chaos and a confused heap, without any regard, be caused to be viewed and sorted, and then prepared meet rooms, presses, and places for the keeping of them in safety, and did appoint a spe cial oficer, with a yearly fee, for the keeping of them.
