Family Economics Review

Angebote / Angebote:

Excerpt from Family Economics Review: March 1961Most consumers take it for granted that the hundreds of attractive and abundant foods in the market are wholesome and safe to eat. This is a tribute to the producers of food-farmers, processors, and other segments of the food industry responsible for its high quality and wholesomeness It also reflects the wisdom of the Congress in providing Federal authority for regulations to maintain these high standards of safety. The first Federal Food and Drug Act in 1906, often called the Pure Food Law, was directed chiefly to control certain chemicals used as preservatives. Since then the problem has become infinitely more complicated. Our food must be ample in quantity to feed an ever - increasing population. It must be so grown, processed, and packaged that it can be transported thousands of miles and still be in good condition. Farm operations must be profitable enough for farmers to stay in business. Agricultural chemicals are as essential to effi cient production of food as farm machinery and improved varieties of crops.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
