Falsity, Fronting, Future explores issues of race and representation, specifically looking at issues of racial expectation, racial stereotyping, and views on bi-racialism. It focuses on black North American authors. By examining Percival Everett's Erasure, Dionne Brand's What We All Long For, and Barack Obama's Dreams from my Father, and looking at the writings of a number of critics on race theory, it explores these issues in a contemporary setting. Issues of race demand attention in today's society and it is important to explore the way in which people view race and the impact these views have on individuals. Falsity, Fronting, Future suggests that if people can stop looking at those around them as 'other' and truly believe that all people are created equal, there will come a day when people will no longer be defined by their race but, rather, can find definition in who they are as individuals.
