Euthanasia and Law in the Netherlands
BücherAngebote / Angebote:
The Netherlands is the only country in the world in which euthanasia, under narrowly defined circumstances, is legally possible. The Dutch experience is therefore of interest to governments elsewhere as they consider whether or not to make euthanasia legal and how to regulate the practice.
This book probes legal norms and procedures currently in place in the Netherlands along with moral and legal principles that have played a role in the Dutch public policy debate. Also included is evidence that bears on the actual practice of euthanasia and on the effectiveness of legal control and possible alternative forms of control. The book ends with reflections on the problem of the "slippery slope" and the question of whether the Dutch experience really is exportable. Included are the texts of relevant legislation (including proposed reforms) and information on three leading cases.
