Excerpt from Estimating Sawmill Processing Capacity for Tongass Timber: 2007 and 2008 UpdateIn this annual assessment of sawmills in southeast Alaska, mill capacity is defined as the amount of net saw-log volume (scribner log scale) that could be processed by the mill, as currently configured, during a standard 250-day, two shifts-per - day, annual operating schedule. This estimate of maximum capacity is not limited by the availability of employment, raw material, or markets.
