Excerpt from Energy Accounting in the Food Processing IndustryThe 1975 Annual Survey of Manufacturers (asm) reports national fuel use data for Standard Industrial Classification (sic) 2/ 20 (food and kindred products), all of the three - digit industries with the exception of coal in two industries, and most of the four-digit sic industries. State data, however, are subject to disclosure problems at the two and three-digit levels, and are not reported at the four - digit level Ap proximately 15 percent of the State two - digit fuel numbers and 50 percent of the State three - digit numbers are not reported by asm because of disclosure and other problems.We believe that sufficient information is available in the 1975 asm and the 1972 Census of Manufactures to estimate those data not disclosed by the asm. This paper develops a complete accounting of major fuel use at the two three and four-digit sic levels by State.
