Excerpt from Eighth Annual Report of the Board of Fire Commissioners: For the Year Ending April 30, 1881Early in the year work was commenced at head-quarters in making improvements in the apparatus and arrangement of the battery and circuit wires. New and substantial structures were placed on the roof of the City Hall for the purpose of carrying the wires.
